Fire-starting is trouble-free with automatic ignition and an easy to read temperature readout make it easy to monitor grill temperatures with or without your phone. Attached to this grill/smoker is a hopper that holds up to 9 pounds of GMG hardwood pellets which are what the Davy Crockett grill uses to heat and flavor your food. No more heavy propane tanks to fill, or black charcoal dust to clean. Specially blended hardwood/fruitwood pellets are used to to automatically increases or decreases temperature through use of the auger speed determined by the set temperature. A positive-pressure hopper fan prevents back-burn(pellets in the hopper catching fire), and by using open-flame technology, the grease-tray holes can be opened for direct flame or closed for indirect heat.

The digital controller and Sense-Mate thermal sensor constantly monitor and maintain temperatures from 150-550 degrees F (66-288 C) in increments of 5 degrees; and with a connected probe inserted into the food being grilled, the display on the controller (and on your mobile device) will indicate the meat's internal temperature. This portable smoker comes with three electrical power alternatives, including an adapter for 110/120 AC wall outlets, a 12-volt plug on a 23-foot cord for vehicle outlets, and alligator clips and cables to hook directly to a 12-volt battery.
