About the RainBird VB-STD (A11400) Standard Rectangular Valve Box with Green Lid
The RainBird VB-STD (part number A11400) standard rectangular valve box is designed to protect in-ground irrigation valves and other subsurface system components. It includes a green lid with beveled edges that help prevent damage from yard maintenance equipment. The hole-free lid also helps keep out stinging and biting insects, snakes, and other creatures, minimizing risk and liability for the harm they might cause. In addition, the lid can be securely fastened to the body with an optional stainless-steel bolt and clip. Constructed of durable, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), this RainBird VB-STD valve box resists damage from impact, UV light, weather, moisture, and soil contact. All of the black-colored parts of RainBird valve boxes are built from 100% recycled HDPE, making them environmentally friendly and LEED compliant.
RainBird VB Series valve boxes feature corrugated sides, giving them greater compression strength and increased stability under heavy loads. Inferior valve boxes require bricks underneath to prevent settling, but the wide flange base of VB Series boxes reduces settling and eliminates the cost and labor of installing bricks. On the inside, the openings are 14.5" x 9.4" at the top and 18.7" x 14.1" at the bottom. A total of 13 knock-outs are easy to remove for placing pipe, and they can be slipped back into their retainers above pipes to stop backfill dirt from getting inside.
