Hi, good day! Thank you for posting a query about the Western Pottery flapper. To replace the flapper on your toilet, be guided by the following instructions. First, turn off the water supply. Second, flush down all the water in your tank. Third, slide each of the flapper sides off of the valve post one at a time. Fourth, unhook the chain from the trip lever arm to completely remove the flapper from your tank. Finally, replace the new flapper by following the instructions above in reverse. We hope this information helps. Thank you for trusting PlumbersStock. Have a great day!
Hi, good day! Thank you for posting a query about the Western Pottery flapper. The chain on the flapper connected to the trip lever arm could be too short, causing the flapper to stay open when flushing, so it has to be adjusted. With regard to the flapper sticking to the standpipe ridge, this can be caused by the mineral deposits build-up and may need water softening solutions to help remove it. However, if none of these solutions worked, then changing the flapper is your best option. To purchase this flapper, click Add to Cart, fill out the required information, and we’ll take care of the rest. Thank you for trusting PlumbersStock. Have a great day!
Hi! Thank you for your question about the Western Pottery Flapper-3. Please follow these steps to repair and replace the flapper: (1) Drain the toilet: close the shut-off valve then remove the top of the tank. You will need to hold down the lever to make sure that the tank is fully drained. (2) Remove the flapper by sliding the left and right tabs from the overflow tube then disconnect the chain from the toilet handle arm. You will also need to clean the valve seat with a sponge or a cloth to remove any bacterial growth. If there are breaks, the new flapper might not sit properly. We hope this helps. Thank you for visiting PlumbersStock.com. Have a great day!
I spoke with a Western Pottery Toilet representative. Said the originals (part plastic, part rubber) need to be cut off with an Xacto Knife (razor) or wire cutters. The new ones, because they are all rubber, will then slide over the flaps. I have ordered these and they are taking a while to ship. The company site says these design updates are not available until June which may be the cause of the long delays. Who would have thought that getting a flapper would be so difficult.
